Locally
God has called us to love on local schools, to help minister to those who struggle with homelessness and food insecurity, and to support foster children in their time of need.
At Canton First Methodist our mission is to inspire, equip, and mobilize people and resources to share Christ in our community and around the world.
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth." Acts 1:8
On Sunday, October 19, Canton First Methodist held our third annual Be the Church Sunday—a special day set apart to serve Cherokee County. Following a time of worship, more than a dozen teams spread out across the community to put their faith into action, serving others in the name of Jesus.
From visiting nursing homes and packing hygiene kits to landscaping, organizing donations, and partnering with local non-profits, every project reflected the love of Christ in meaningful and tangible ways. Families, youth, and adults worked side by side, sharing laughter, prayer, and a deep sense of purpose as they served together.
It was a beautiful reminder that the church is not confined to a building—it is the people of God living out the Gospel through acts of love and service. Through Be the Church Sunday, we were reminded that when we come together as one body, empowered by the Spirit, we truly become the hands and feet of Christ—serving others for the glory of God and the good of our community.
