Lent is traditionally a season of self-denial so that the followers of Jesus can repent, reflect and remember Jesus’ death and prepare for the celebration of the Easter resurrection. But when Jesus came, he sent his disciples out to “proclaim this message: The kingdom of heaven has come near” and to serve others (Matthew 10:7-8). In doing this, Jesus was showing us that we can experience God’s kingdom in this life whenever and wherever God’s will is lived out through every follower of Jesus. This Lenten season we invite you to proclaim the Kingdom message by serving our community as we are equipped and mobilized to go beyond the walls of the church.
